Major Duties

At the entry level of this position, you will:

-Review and evaluate scientific data on the effects of pesticides to support regulatory decisions on pesticides’ registration and reevaluation;

-Assist in the development of new approaches to investigate problems associated with the registration and reevaluation of pesticides;

-Assist in preparing reports that evaluate data and assessments of pesticides exposure, hazard, and risk;

-Make recommendations on hazard or exposure analyses for pesticides as input to the Agency's pesticide risk assessment.

When entering a Federal job at a grade level lower than the highest promotion potential level, you may be promoted to more complex duties and work more independently, as your career progresses.

Qualifications

You need a degree or combination of education and experience as described below to qualify for this position.In addition to the educational requirements, we are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below:

To qualify for the GS-09 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-07 level defined as conducting statistical/scientific evaluations of laboratory research data; or analyzing, compiling or computing data as it relates to chemicals- OR master's or equivalent graduate degree; or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in the academic discipline as described above- OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

To qualify for the GS-11 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-09 level defined as analyzing statistical/scientific evaluations of laboratory or field research data pertaining to the use, benefits, and/or efficacy of chemicals; or analyzing the impacts chemicals have on human health - OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in the academic discipline as described above- OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Your answers to the on-line assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: 1)Ability to use standard data gathering and analysis techniques to support the development of pesticide information; 2)Knowledge of laws and regulations related to pesticide registration; 3)Ability to analyze technical documentation related to pesticides; 4) Skill in oral communication; 5)Knowledge of the uses and benefits of a variety of pesticides; 6)Skill in written communication; 7)Ability to conduct risk assessments.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Pay Range

$59,534.00 - $93,638.00
