Job Summary

The positionsare located in the Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention, Office of Pesticides Programs, Registration Division in various branches. If selected, you must work at the location stated in this announcement.About OCSPP:OCSPP

Major Duties

At the entry level of this position, you will:

- Examine and evaluate scientific data and/or pesticide-based studies and all collateral information to produce written reviews consistent with project-specific statutory deadlines under the Pesticide Registration Improvement Act (PRIA) and the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act (FIRFA); prepare reports and decision documents to support regulatory decisions based on science reviews.

- Write detailed scientific evaluations related to the impacts of pesticide usage and which include protocols for product performance testing and product labeling guidelines.

- Conduct exposure analysis to support the pesticide risk assessment and risk management decisions under PRIA and FIFRA; provide recommendations to resolve problems which may have significant impact on private industries.

- Research, interpret, analyze and apply federal laws and agency regulations which form the regulatory framework for pesticide usage.

When entering a Federal job at a grade level lower than the highest promotion potential level, you may be promoted to more complex duties and work more independently, as your career progresses.

Qualifications

You need a degree or combination of education and experience as described below to qualify for this position.In addition to the educational requirements, we are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below:

To qualify for the GS-11 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-09 level defined asanalyzing or evaluating chemical information to produce reviews with a focus on the impacts of human health or the environment;- OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in the academic discipline as described below- OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.To qualify for the GS-12 level, you need to have at least one year of full time experience equivalent to the GS-11 level defined asanalyzing or evaluating chemical information to produce reviews with a focus on the impacts of human health or the environment and writing scientific and/or technical reports and decision documents to support regulatory decisions.Your answers to the on-line assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: 1) Skill in using standard data gathering and analysis techniques to support the development of pesticide information; 2) Skill in oral communication; 3) Knowledge of the uses and benefits of a variety of pesticides; 4) Skill in written communication; 5) Skill in reviewing and analyzing technical documentation; 6) Ability to work with an interdisciplinary team; 7)Knowledge of laws and regulations related to pesticide registration.Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Pay Range

$72,030.00 - $112,240.00
