Major Duties
You will:
- Serve as a senior scientist to provide authoritative scientific and technical expertise for hazard and risk assessments, and provides leadership by chairing meetings attended by and integrating information and data provided by multidisciplinary experts;
- Provide expert advice to OPPT senior management, act as a liaison with external stakeholders, and collaborate with key technical experts and other staff related to the development and use of hazard and risk assessments;
- Develop new tools, methods, and products related to hazard and/or risk assessment for use by the Agency, Office, Division and Branch;
- Conduct briefings, gives presentations and generates reports; ensures that correspondence and division communications related to hazard and/or risk assessment, which reflect state-of-the-art science, are transparent, complete, consistent and reasonable;
- Serve as a Contracting Officer’s Representative in managing a component of the program through extramural resources.
You will spend less than 25% of your work time on contracts, grants/cooperative agreements, and/or inter-agency agreements.

Qualifications
You need a degree or combination of education and experience as described below to qualify for this position.In addition to the educational requirements, we are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below:To qualify for the GS-14 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-13 level defined as leading a multidisciplinary scientific team; overseeing the review of hazard and risk assessment data/information for chemicals; and advising senior management on scientific, regulatory and/or policy matters.
Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: 1) Skill in providing advice and assistance to scientists and management level officials; 2)Skill in providing technical oversight of other staff members involved in various aspects of implementing hazard, exposure, environmental fate and/or risk assessment; 3)Knowledge of Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA); 4) Knowledge of Pollution Prevention Act (PPA); 5)Ability to develop tools, models, and methods to implement hazard, exposure, environmental fate and/or risk assessment; 6)Skill in making presentations and/or conducting scientific briefings; 7)Skill in written communication; 8)Knowledge of administrative aspects of contracts, grants, cooperative agreements, or interagency agreements.

Pay Range
$117,191.00 - $152,352.00
