Job Summary

The incumbent participates as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to develop programs and projects that utilize spatial data concerning plant health. The incumbent assists in maintaining high quality data standards for the creation and management of vector and raster data relative to all Domestic and emergency PPQ Programs.

Major Duties

  • The duties described are for the full-performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity.
  • The duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Maintain professional standards for the creation and management of vector and raster data relative to all Domestic and emergency PPQ Programs.
  • Employ GIS software to create, prepare and manage geographic data from a variety of sources.
  • Performs GIS analysis in the development and maintenance of multiple geodatabases.
  • Process ancillary data into decision support systems.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the below qualifications requirements by the closing date of the announcement, including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below. FOR THE GS-05 LEVEL: Applicants must have one or more full-time years (12-months) of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience is experience in cartography or in a related field such as photogrammetry or geodesy, where the work required similar knowledge and skills performing the following: Creating map products using proper map design and cartographic principles; Using GPS devices for field data collection; Providing support of GPS and GIS technologies to field personnel; AND Assisting with cartographic training delivery. OR

EDUCATION

A full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree that included at least 18 semester hours in courses such as cartography, relevant mathematical and statistical sciences, or related sciences, e.g., cartography, astronomy, geodesy, photogrammetry, oceanography, computer science, land surveying, geophysics, remote sensing, algebra, trigonometry, calculus, and physical geography. Not more than 9 of the 18 semester hours should have been in mathematics or statistics. TRANSCRIPTS are required if: You are qualifying for the position based on education This education must have been successfully completed and obtained from an accredited school, college, or university Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Pay Range

$34,916.00 - $45,393.00
