Job Summary
This position serves as a "Design Engineer" for the design and oversight of highway streets, bridges and other related structures located with Bureau of Indian Affairs, Western Region, Division of Transportation, Phoenix, AZ. The first certificate will be issued after 02/03/2020. Then the next subsequent cut-off date will be 15 working days thereafter as needed: 02/25/2020; 03/17/2020.
Major Duties
- Create and process Highway Right-Of-Way and encroachment documents.
- Monitor and review design work, plans and specifications.
- Facilitate in the design of Highway plans and transportation documents.
- Prepare and/or review specifications and technical requirements for Architectural and Engineering (AE) contracts.
- Assure the timely completion or obtaining of all required pre-construction items to ensure project compliance.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions, to include the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the GS-0810, Professional and ScientificSeries. Please click here for more information. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes: succession in transportation project design, development or construction of highway bridge or other highway transportation projects and development of right-of-way and easement documents in accordance with engineering and construction standards, principles, and methods. Provide design and oversight of highways, streets, roads, bridges and other related structures that are often unconventional in nature or unusual. Additionally, work experience that demonstrates development or researching the solutions to special problems such as high ground water levels, unstable bearing strata, rotational earth failures and protection of highly erodible soil conditions. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks

Pay Range
$76,721.00 - $99,741.00
