At GS-11 level, performs hydrologic and hydraulic (H and H) studies and investigation. At GS-12 level, continues to perform technical work and provide direction to lower graded employees performing similar functions.

Major Duties

  • Participate in and oversee study, investigation, and development of various water resource projects and other studies for use in preparation and presentation of Hydrologic and Hydraulic (H and H) portion in studies, reports, and projects.
  • Develops and coordinates the documentation for Architect-Engineer (A-E) contracts on the H and H portion of appendices which covers scope, engineering criteria, and estimates of the cost of work.
  • At full performance level, assists supervisor in balancing workload among employees in accordance with established work flow or job specialization, assures timely accomplishment of the assigned workload and provides tasks to each team member.

Minimum Qualifications for GS-11 Civil Engineer (Hydraulics): Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience in developing storm water modeling for existing and proposed site conditions and incorporating requirements into related engineering designs. Experience in coordinating and designing supporting facilities and site layouts for projects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Engineering. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Minimum Qualifications for GS-12 Civil Engineer (Hydraulics): Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience in advising on business processes, deliverable, and constructed products used within complex projects. Experience in pursuing innovative solutions, applying state-of-the-art technology methods. Experience in coordinating and incorporating site design requirements for storm water-related issues between internal operators and infrastructure stakeholders. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11 or above). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Pay Range

$64,009.00 - $99,741.00
