Job Summary
Serves as a regional technical specialist and District technical expert in hydraulics and risk analysis on studies, analyses, or designs prepared by either the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) or by Architect-Engineer (A-E) firms.
Major Duties
- Serves as an authoritative source on state-of-the-art, complex hydraulic modeling and application of models for analyses of riverine and floodplain hydraulics in support of planning and design.
- Provides technical support and advice to project teams within the region on challenging project analyses and designs utilizing river hydraulics engineering tools and principles.
- Confers with engineers and scientists in other organizational units throughout SPK engaged in various aspects of planning, engineering, design and construction to resolve conflicts or delays to the timely completion of work.
- Assists in research efforts and acts as a conduit for the dissemination of information to other Corps Districts, Divisions, and HQUSACE.
- Develops and executes all phases and aspects of project work including Scopes of Work (SOW), proposals, cost estimates for engineering services, schedules, designs, technical reviews, preparation of contract documents, etc.
- Reviews and recommends hydraulic basis for features of planning design and construction documents, including Reconnaissance and Feasibility Reports, design memoranda, plans, specifications, drawings, construction modifications, etc.
- Provides support in emergency response efforts during flood threats, including maintaining communication and preparedness with other Federal and State agency engineers and scientists.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes the planning, coordination, and execution of flood risk management projects and/or hydraulic engineering projects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Selective Placement Factor: This position requires the possession of a current Professional Engineer (PE) registration issued by any State in the United States, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
Pay Range
$96,311.00 - $125,202.00
