To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. The courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of an engineering program as described in paragraph A (above) OR Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions. In addition to the Basic Education Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing design and consultation services to ensure all facilities are designed and constructed utilizing sound engineering practices; 2) Utilizing Autodesk software, structural/engineering design & analysis software, and other applicable DoD computer systems and software to ensure proper design of structural systems ; 3) Overseeing civil/structural engineering designs to effectively assess customer's requirements and develop innovative solutions.; and 4) Utilizing budgeting, planning and project management techniques to support structural engineering designs for new construction and renovation projects. PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT: Occasional physical activity is required including walking, climbing or bending in the performance of field work, for designs and during field inspections of existing and/or new facilities during design and construction. Work is performed primarily in an office setting. Travel to CONUS and OCONUS activities for assigned projects is required. There are occasional factory visits, and exposures to conditions in buildings and facilities that are under construction. Travel under demanding conditions in support of military operations is also occasionally required. Percentage of travel is 15%

Pay Range

$78,681.00 - $102,288.00
