Job Summary
You will serve as the Distinguished Scientist/Engineer for Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM) Targeting and Fire Control in the Strategic and Computing Systems Department of Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD).
Major Duties
- You will be responsible for the planning, formulating, conducting, and coordinating basic and applied research and technology development to expand the state-of-the-art technology and develop new capabilities for the SLBM systems of the future.
- You will participate in scientific advisory and working groups relevant to the research and technology areas for the next-generation of SLBM systems.
- You will manage, direct, and oversee research and development performed by technical teams executing tasks related to strategic weapons science and technology planning, management, and execution.
- You will lead the workforce in the future direction of major programs including current and future Strategic Weapon Systems with emphasis upon Fire Control Programs.
Qualifications

National and/or international reputation in fundamental scientific knowledge related to strategic weapon systems. 2. Demonstrated ability to conduct and lead research and development programs for strategic weapon targeting and fire control to include planning, directing, and resolving technical issues of a complex nature relating to strategic weapons systems and to resolve these technical issues by leading the development and integration of new state-of-the-art techniques, theories, and concepts. 3. Knowledge of a broad scope of technologies in geoballistics, weapons control, missile guidance theory, software development processes and tools, modeling of the earth's gravitational field, targeting analysis, error modeling, atmospheric phenomena, optimized star selection methodologies, statistical gain matrix computational algorithms, and integrated system technology and integration, especially as related to Navy Strategic Weapon Systems. 4. Demonstrated ability to assess current and projected mission requirement, capabilities, and shortfalls relative to strategies, budgets, threat analysis, and execution plans. The results of these assessments would be the initiation of new research tasks to meet the identified shortfalls, with the final result being integration of the new technology into the weapon system. 5. Knowledge of national and international defense organizations and operations as related to research, development, test and evaluation (RDT&E) activities in strategic systems. Pay Range
$164,868.00 - $176,900.00
