Job Summary
This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The ND-5 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to GS-14 and GS-15. You will serve as the Chief Engineer for Airborne Weapon Systems (CE-AWS) technologies in the Special Warfare & Expeditionary Systems Department, Small Arms Weapons Systems Division, Airborne Weapons Branch (Code JXNS) of the Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane Division.
Major Duties
- You will serve as the Division's chief researcher and knowledge source for Airborne Weapon Systems and the systems engineering and critical technology elements required to enable Small Arms Weapons and Weapon Systems enhancement.
- You will Formulate, propose, gain funding for and execute research, development, test and evaluation and engineering tasking related to Airborne Weapon Systems.
- You will participate in technical exchanges, various program reviews, and other technical and programmatic meetings both internally and with program office leadership, prime contractors, and other organizations.
- You will review and interpret technical requirements and provide input and recommendations to management, project leads, and other members of the Airborne Weapons Branch and Small Arms Weapon Systems Division.
- You will interact routinely with contractor and academia leadership, promoting the organization's capabilities used in support of airborne weapons systems.
- You will mentor and assist fellow engineers and technicians with technical matters requiring innovative solutions to meet systems engineering and technology requirements.
- You will present formal and informal oral presentations aimed at gaining concurrence with and approval for execution of a course of action or programmatic effort.
Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-4 pay band (GS-12 and GS-13 equivalency) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: As a professional engineer or scientist applying advanced theories of engineering or physical science to lead the research and development of weapon systems. Pay Range
$88,704.00 - $160,286.00
