Job Summary
The GEMS (Green Environmental Management Systems Coordinator) is responsible for implementation, administration, development, and monitoring of performance measures to ensure adequacy of the facility's GEMS programs.
Major Duties
This position is located in Environmental Management Service at the VA Medical Center in Ann Arbor, MI.
- Coordinates and conducts required training in compliance with Federal, State and local environmental/safety laws, regulations, and ordinances.
- Develops and implements training and educational initiatives related to environmental programs.
- Plans, manages and coordinates environmental engineering projects to achieve and maintain regulatory compliance.
- Utilizes professional knowledge of principles, methods, and techniques of science and engineering involving construction, operation and maintenance of health care facilities related to controlling pollution and protecting environment.
- Evaluates, modifies and implements pollution prevention alternatives to reduce waste.
- Performs investigations, inspections, or oversight activities on new programs, or programs being redefined that require modification and/or change.
- Prepares and conducts briefings or training programs, lead group conferences, and write reports and letters related to environmental programs.
- Provides technical advice regarding response to environmental emergencies including releases/spills of hazardous materials.
- Uses data gathering and analysis techniques to collect and review technical information on environmental activities.
- Performs other duties assigned as it relates to the position.

Pay Range
$68,230.00 - $88,705.00
