Job Summary

You will serve as a ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER in the HEALTH & SAFETY SECTION, ENGINEERING BRANCH of BLOUNT ISLAND COMMAND. This announcement uses the Defense Industrial Base, Major Range and Test Facilities direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.

Major Duties

  • You will advise on the impact of installation's activities on public safety, ecology, and environment involving matters directly or closely related to environmental engineering.
  • You will analyze results of environmental studies to determine corrective action for compliance issues.
  • You will communicate with individuals or groups to influence them to adopt or comply with environmental protection or improvement standards, practices, or procedures.
  • You will advise personnel on the proper interpretation or implementation of regulatory environmental requirements.
  • You will develop instructions and notices to ensure full compliance with environmental laws.
  • You will represent an organization at activity, conferences, compliance reviews, public hearing, meetings, or with regulatory agencies for consultation.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Education Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-11) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Serve as a Professional Environmental Engineer ensuring environmental programs provide the controls and procedures necessary to protect or improve air, land and water resources; prevent contamination by hazardous and toxic substances; and assure maintenance of a delicate balance between land use requirements and environmental concerns in compliance with Federal, State, and agency policies, directives, and regulations. Pay Range

$76,721.00 - $99,741.00
