Job Summary

You will serve as a ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER in the Environmental Business Line of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND HAWAII. A Cost-of-Living Allowance (COLA) of 10.64% will be added to the stated salary. GS-11 salary range: $71,193 - $90,404 GS-12 salary range: $78,880 - $101,903

Major Duties

  • You will lead environmental programs (e.g., drinking water, wastewater, pollution prevention, spill response, hazardous waste) to recommend or initiate corrective actions for compliance, as needed.
  • You will interpret mandated environmental protection standards and regulations to initiate compliance within a command's environmental programs.
  • You will develop data driven processes for conducting design review and making milestone decisions.
  • You will prepare government estimates to facilitate funding of the projects within budget.

Qualifications

GS-12 position only: This position has a selective placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factor is: Registration as a Professional Engineer in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Do you meet this requirement? NOTE: You must submit a copy of registration with your application to be considered for this position. GS-12 position: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Resolving issues related to various environmental programs such as drinking water system compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), and wastewater and storm water system and permit compliance with the Clean Water Act (CWA); 2) Performing and monitoring environmental projects that ensure compliance with rules and regulations; 3) Developing projects for study or design and construction from project inception through completion; and 4) Conducting internal and external environmental management system (EMS) and compliance audits to ensure compliance with regulations, instructions, and governing standards. GS-11 position: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Making oral presentations of proposed designs and results of studies; 2) Using Microsoft Office products, environmental engineering software and other applicable computer systems; 3) Applying the latest developments in environmental engineering to assess environmental impact, develop contingency plans; 4) Supporting sampling to provide water/wastewater/storm water quality results for internal and external reporting in accordance with permit conditions; and 5) Supporting internal and external reporting of and clean up actions related to wastewater spills and ilicit stormwater discharges. $71,193.00 - $101,903.00
