Job Summary

You will serve as an ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER/ MECHANICAL ENGINEER/ CHEMICAL ENGINEER in the Wastewater ISE Branch, C/334 of the Materials, Structures, Environment and Protection, Div/33, of the Machinery Research, Log and Ship Integrity Dept., C/30 of the Department of the Navy of NSWC PHILA DIV.

Major Duties

  • You will serve as the Navy expert, advisor and consultant for oily wastewater management concerns and environmental regulations development. As the technical advisor, you will represent the Navy at program meetings, IPT meetings, and design reviews.
  • You will provide strategy for the design, characterization, processing, and testing of new or improved oily wastewater treatment processes and technologies as well as maintenance technologies that could generate oily wastewater discharge concerns.
  • You will serve as an advisor for the implementation of the Technology Identification and Assessment Process (TIAP) on oily wastewater treatment systems.
  • You will conceive, propose, plan, direct, and manage a wide range of projects for the analysis, design, development, evaluation, and maintenance of shipboard oily wastewater treatment systems.
  • You will define objectives and priorities; initiates program and projects; and plans, formulates, organizes and directs extensive technical activities to meet the Navy's requirements.
  • You will be responsible for developing state of the art technologies that address current and future environmental compliance requirements.
  • You will serve as technical area leader over assigned OPA programs, keep apprised of progress and status, and find ways to improve production, increase work quality and ensuring that production and accuracy requirements are met.
  • You will utilize the oil pollution abatement (OPA) test site to investigate complex Navy Oil Pollution Abatement problems and implement effective solutions.
  • You will serve as an authoritative expert and program leader in planning, formulating, organizing and directing extensive technical activities to meet the Navy's requirements in OPA technologies and in-service engineering programs.
  • You will provide expert guidance, direction, and training/mentoring to NAVSEA/NSWC personnel on current, new or improved oily wastewater treatment processes and technologies.
  • You will serve as a lead technical advisor to NAVSEA personnel on technical matters relating to Oil Pollution Abatement systems with an emphasis on systems integration, in-service engineering and new technologies assessment.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional engineer coordinating the integration of shipboard wastewater pollution abatement systems and equipment to comply with environmental regulations. Pay Range

$117,188.00 - $152,342.00
