MajorDuties

You will:

- As Brownfields Project Manager, provide advice and technical assistance to local, tribal, and state governments, redevelopment agencies, and non-profit organizations on the evaluation of environmental conditions for the cleanup of hazardous substances in different media;

- Resolve and draft Regional agency opinion on the resolution of complex situations arising from site or applicant eligibility, sampling and analysis methods, quality control, risk assessment, cleanup levels, program policy, and/or other scenarios;

- Oversee all technical aspects of an assessment or cleanup project, including project scoping, cleanup approach, Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) and Assessment of Brownfields Cleanup Alternatives (ABCA) review and approval, and approval of final project documents;

- Conduct outreach to support site specific decisions, policy changes, and program implementation, including participation in national workgroups.

When entering a Federal job at a grade level lower than the highest promotion potential level, you may be promoted to more complex duties and work more independently, as your career progresses.

You will spend 25-50% of your work time on contracts, grants/cooperative agreements, and/or interagency agreements.

Qualifications

In addition to the educational requirements, we are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below:To qualify for the GS-11 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-09 level defined as preparing public outreach materials; and evaluating environmental conditions through sampling or data analysis - OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.M., in an academic discipline related to this position - OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.To qualify for the GS-12 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-11 level defined as conducting public outreach on environmental topics and/or issues; and evaluating environmental conditions through sampling and data analysis.Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: 1)Knowledge of the risks and threats posed when wastes are released into the environment; 2)Knowledge of analytical sampling techniques and technology; 3)Skill in written communication; 4)Ability to independently analyze documents and reports; 5)Skill in project management; 6)Skill in oral communication; 7)Ability to use software presentation tools.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Pay Range

$67,437.00 - $105,083.00
