Job Summary

You will serve as a ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER/PHYSICAL SCIENTIST in the Environmental Business Line Department of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND HAWAII. A Cost-of-Living Allowance (COLA) of 10.64% will be added to the stated salary.

Major Duties

  • You will monitor environmental compliance projects to ensure they are programmed, budgeted, funded and executed by set deadlines.
  • You will develop modified methods or techniques to study environmental impacts for unique circumstances.
  • You will write environmental reports (e.g., fact sheets, issue papers, decision documents) relevant to current projects or programs.
  • You will conduct environmental program meetings to verbally address the concerns of the public, resolve conflict, and alleviate fear.

Qualifications

For the GS-0819 Environmental Engineering Series Only: This position has a selective placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factor is: Registration as a Professional Engineer by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam or Puerto Rico is required. NOTE: YOU MUST SUBMIT A COPY OF YOUR LICENSE WITH YOUR APPLICATION. In addition to the Basic Education Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Investigating sites to determine the nature and extent of contamination and developing implementable engineering solutions to mitigate such contamination; 2) Applying theories, concepts, principles, standards, and practices of environmental engineering and geology to understand groundwater movement and the potential fate and transport of contaminants at a site; 3) Managing environmental service contracts to accomplish site investigative efforts and environmental studies; and 4) Assimilating large amounts of complex, conflicting, and abstract environmental information; arranging and evaluating this information based on best available science and rationale judgement; and articulating findings, justifications, and recommendations that are easily understood and consistent with data, analysis, and investigate efforts. Pay Range

$91,242.00 - $118,612.00
