Job Summary

The selectee for this position will serve as a ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION ASSISTANT in the Environmental Compliance and Protection Department of MARINE CORPS BASE HAWAII.

Major Duties

  • You will assist the Director in performing administrative and technical support work in the environmental protection/enhancement field.
  • You will review files and records and consolidate relevant factual information related to environmental resources and program compliance reviews.
  • You will provide information to or collect information regard to uses and impacts on the environment, filing permits, grant applications, environmental documentation for proposed actions, etc.
  • You will collect, track, compute, and summarize departmental and statistical data in chart and narrative form.
  • You will review available information and work with senior staff to prepare plans, review management and consolidation plans, develop charts to assist field personnel in monitoring, and otherwise assist in meeting regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Therefore, we encourage you to be clear and specific when describing your experience. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing technical support work in the environmental protection/enhancement field (e.g. conducting field inspections, recommending resolutions to conventional environmental issues, etc.). You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Pay Range

$44,597.00 - $57,972.00
