Job Summary
As an Environmental Protection Specialist, you will be responsible for coordinating, integrating, facilitating, reporting, and promoting many environmentally-related activities undertaken within the National Capital Region (NCR). Location of position:General Services Administration (GSA), NCR, Public Buildings Service (PBS), Facilities Management and Special Programs Division, Safety & Environmental Fire Protection Branch, Washington, DC.
Major Duties
- Serves as Environmental Program Coordinator, with responsibility for coordinating, integrating, facilitating, reporting, and promoting all environmentally-related activities undertaken within the National Capital Region (NCR).
- Serves as the primary point of contact with external organizations on environmental issues, including other Federal, State, and municipal government agencies.
- Assembles and maintains a complete inventory of pertinent information about the scope and direction of Regional Service and Staff Office environmental efforts and programs. Researches the most sensitive, complex, and controversial issues pertaining to environmental programs.
- Serve as the Regional Environmental Manager (REM) for the OMB accounting for environmental liabilities reporting.
- Provides critical input to environmental policy development and implementation as a key advisory to senior Regional management, including the Regional/Deputy Commissioner’s. Furnishes advisory, expertise, direction, and significant information to NCR management executives, who regularly seek the incumbent’s expertise on a wide variety of sensitive, extremely complex, and highly political environmental agendas.

To qualify, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12level or higher in the Federal service.Specialized experience is experience in providing technical oversight, coordination, and management of environmental protection programs in areas such as: air and water quality, hazardous waste and materials management, oil and hazardous substance spills planning, environmental liabilities, fuel storage tank management, permitting and closure, identification management and mitigation of risks associated with toxic substances, and general environmental compliance. Experience must include the related technical evaluation and assessment for the following types of work projects: facility operations, new construction, renovation and demolition
Pay Range
$99,172.00 - $128,920.00
