Job Summary

You will serve as an ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION SPECIALIST in the Environmental Compliance Branch, Facilities Department ofMARINE CORPS AIR STATION IWAKUNI .

Major Duties

  • You will ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations, and ensure monitoring equipment is accurately calibrated and functioning properly.
  • You will participate in the preparation of written plans and schedules, and provides input for setting milestones for accomplishing program goals.
  • You will participate in the review of plans, specifications, and cost estimates for a variety of projects in support of the environmental program.
  • You will organize, schedule, and administer supporting functions of appropriate meeting for discussion of environmental issues.
  • You will take samples, accumulate information and material required for laboratory analysis, analyze and interpret laboratory reports to determine presence of hazardous environmental conditions and the degree of noncompliance with regulatory guidance
  • Incorporates federal, state, and local regulatory requirements into program design, implementation, and evaluation efforts.

Qualifications

GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:Performing environmental investigations/site visits to support respective tenant overall environmental conformance in regards to, but not limited to; area of environmental focus (e.g., hazardous waste storage and/or disposal; air emissions; oil and hazardous substances spill contingency; spill prevention control and countermeasures; Toxic Control Substances Act; solid waste management; potable water; domestic and industrial wastewater; and storm water programs and the Comprehensive Environmental and Education Program (CETEP)). GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Assisting in providing technical expertise in establishing and identifying corrective actions in compliance with environmental programs such as Clean Air Act (CAA), Safe Drinking Water (SDWA), radon, hazardous waste, etc. Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website: http://www.opm.gov/qualifications/Standards/group-stds/gs-admin.asp.Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Pay Range

$37,301.00 - $59,316.00
