Job Summary
Serves as an Environmental Protection Specialist responsible for advising installation and/or tenant activities and contractors on the interpretation, implementation of and compliance with Federal, State, local regulations and Army directives.
Major Duties
- Provides guidance on environmental compliance and in developing, coordinating and executing solid waste, hazardous material, hazardous waste, pest management, wastewater, drinking water, storm water and water quality programs.
- Responds to inquiries concerning the interpretation and application of policy directives and regulations pertinent to the installation environmental compliance.
- Oversees, implements, and/or directs corrections of deficiencies for assigned programs which involve a wide range of environmental laws and regulations.
- Responsible for developing, coordinating and executing several environmental programs to include storage tanks, asbestos, hazardous material, hazardous waste, pest management, solid waste, waste and ground and surface and drinking water.
- Oversees the development, coordination and implementation of the installation hazardous material and hazardous waste programs databases.
- Prepares or oversees the preparation of all required Environmental permits/plans.
- Maintains the installation spill plan to include all hazardous material/waste activities and ensures that activities are prepared and equipped for cleanup.
- Coordinates and negotiates with Federal, State, county and local regulatory agencies to resolve environmental issues.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience managing environmental programs and identifying/planning corrective actions to ensure compliance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. $93,587.00 - $121,668.00
