Job Summary
Serves as Environmental Protection Specialist with responsibility for the implementation of command environmental programs that embrace a wide range of subjects directly or indirectly concerned with public safety and welfare and protection of the installation's natural/cultural resources.
Major Duties
- Incorporate the different disciplines of environmental studies such as ecology and natural sciences to researches
- Responsible for hazardous Materials, Hazardous Waste and different types of pollutants programs.
- Analyze environmental data reports, communicating environmental impact and prevention methods internally and externally.
- Make environmental standard and ensure compliance through audits or inspections.
- Coordinates with Preventive Medicine Services on medical waste management issues.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience in environmental program concepts, principles, and practices applicable to a full range of duties concerned with the operating, maintenance and improvement of environmental engineering facilities and the implementation and administration of related programs for HM/HW/HAZMIN control, pollution prevention, water, air and natural/cultural resources management. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Geosciences, Biology, Chemistry or Natural Sciences, Environmental Science, Environmental Policy and Public Health. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Pay Range
$55,204.00 - $71,764.00
