Job Summary

Serves as a Specialist coordinating Fort Huachuca programs dealing with environmental protection areas such as air, water, and radiation pollution control, etc. Fort Huachuca is located 75 miles southeast of Tucson, Arizona. MajorDuties

  • Develops and compiles a variety of reports on pollution abatement and other data gathered in support of the Environmental Protection Program.
  • Interprets National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits issued by EPA.
  • Responsible for development of the list of Hazardous and Toxic Materials utilized at the installation and provides technical guidance for EPA requirements for proper storage, handling, use and disposal of these materials.
  • Inspects installation activities to ensure the petroleum products storage and handling procedures are in accordance with the Installation Spill Plan, develops, and implements as required, and serves as an on-site coordinator of oil.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience in the application of laws, principles, methods and concepts applied in support of the clean water program and the hazardous waste program to manage and/or oversee the environmental programs; conducting hazardous waste determinations and managing hazardous waste storage program and with clean water regulatory program management. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field such as Environmental Science, Environmental Studies and/or Environmental Engineering which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours graduate education beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.). (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) Pay Range

$64,694.00 - $84,100.00
