Job Summary

This position serves as a senior Environmental Protection Specialist located in the Environmental Planning and Analysis (EC) organization of Environment, Fish, and Wildlife (EFW).As a senior Environmental Protection Specialist expert for environmental services the incumbent provides a wide range of high level regulatory, scientific, and policy analysis within the environmental arena.

Major Duties

As a Environmental Protection Specialist, you will:

  • Conduct National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) analysis of organization’s projects to provide guidance on the appropriate scope and required methods of environmental compliance work.
  • Provide technical advice on environmental policies, statues, laws, standards, directives, and regulations.
  • Manage significant environmental technical and scientific projects from inception to completion.
  • Assist Contracting Officers in the development and implementation of contracts for professional services necessary to complete environmental analysis and documentation.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSA qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12) in the Federal service.

Specialized experience for this position is defined as:Collaborate with multiple stakeholders in the development of Environmental Assessments, Environmental Impact Statements, and other technical documents in compliance with environmental laws and regulations (e.g., National Environmental Policy Act, the Endangered Species Act; Clean Water Act, National Historic Preservation Act, etc.) to analyze and assess how a program’s projects impact fish and wildlife

There is no substitution of education for experience at the GS-13 level.

ProjectManagement -Knowledge of the principles, methods, or tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, and managing projects and resources, including monitoring and inspecting costs, work, and contractor performance.

StakeholderManagement -Knowledge of the concepts, practices, and techniques used to identify, engage, influence, and monitor relationships with individuals and groups connected to a work effort; including those actively involved, those who exert influence over the process and its results, and those who have a vested interest in the outcome (positive or negative).

Writing -Recognizes or uses correct English grammar, punctuation, and spelling; communicates information (for example, facts, ideas, or messages) in a succinct and organized manner; produces written information, which may include technical material, that is appropriate for the intended audience. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Pay Range

$97,360.00 - $126,571.00
