Job Summary

Incumbent works with environmental programs involved with hazardous materials and waste disposal on Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) and sub-installations.

Major Duties

  • Monitor and inspect hazardous waste to ensure compliance with applicable installation, local, state and federal environmental regulations.
  • Perform waste collection services such as tactical vehicle de-fueling, solvent tank maintenance, and universal waste and recycling services.
  • Is on 24-hour call to respond to hazardous substance spills and releases.
  • Advise installation personnel using hazardous materials on measures to control or eliminate hazardous environmental conditions.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience; Assist higher level Environmental Protection Specialists by monitoring the handling of hazardous materials or waste in accordance with installation, local, and federal environmental regulations and utilizing an automated tracking system to gather data for the transportation of hazardous materials or waste. OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education with major study in Public Health, Environmental Protection and Conservation, or Environmental Science, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural resources. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. Pay Range

$57,955.00 - $75,343.00
