Job Summary

You will serve as an ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION SPECIALIST in the Naval Foundry and Propeller Center (NFPC) Code 1400, Occupational Safety Health and Environmental Division, Code 1460 of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Major Duties

  • You will manage hazardous waste materials and EPA regulated hazardous waste.
  • You will develop permits, applications, and modification requests and oversee permit compliance.
  • You will develop and recommend improvements to processes to increase effectiveness/efficiency in writing for management review.
  • You will provide consultation and guidance to shop/codes environmental coordinators on methods to ensure waste control.
  • You will make initial emergency response for any hazardous releases.
  • You will provide program and project coordination for assigned programs.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience planning, organizing, coordinating, executing and managing environmental protection programs (e.g. Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Comprehensive Environmental Response, Liability and Compensation Act (CERCLA), and the Toxic Substance Act (TSCA)), evaluating and verifying that work is accomplished in accordance with environmental compliance regulations and laws; and identifying and implementing corrections for environmental issues. Pay Range

$55,722.00 - $87,649.00
