Job Summary

Fort Gordon is approximately 139 miles east of Atlanta, GA; 80 miles southwest of Columbia, SC; 156 miles west of Charleston, SC; 175 miles southwest of Charlotte, NC; and 127 miles northwest of Savannah, Georgia. Fort Gordon's location is in the Augusta metropolitan area (also known as the Central Savannah River Area-CSRA) and is an easy drive to Atlanta, Savannah, Charleston, Charlotte, the beaches along the Atlantic Ocean, and the mountains.

Major Duties

  • Provide technical review and coordination for installation storm water pollution prevention plans, Best Management Practices (BMPs) and associated water quality aspects of Transformation Storm Water projects.
  • Advise Water Program Manager and other staff as appropriate of situations contrary to the installation's environmental and water pollution abatement objectives and provides technical assistance on methods and procedures for corrective actions.
  • Recommend actions to resolve problems including the review of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents as they relate to water and storm water issues.
  • Draft storm water related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) augmented with internal control checklists to conduct inspections. Provides assistance for compliance and monitoring.
  • Coordinate and accomplishes sampling of surface waters and system outfalls as required.
  • Serve as a member of the Environmental spill response team.
  • Participate in the containment and clean-up of spills.

Qualifications

US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience in reviewing National Pollutant Eliminations System (NPDES), landfill and inspection and storm water planning inspections permit requirements. Experience in preparing documents and plans pm storm water pollution prevention. Experience in inspecting sites to determine if the appropriate environmental level of compliance is being followed. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: a degree in any major study OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

$52,905.00 - $68,777.00
