Job Summary
Huntsville is a high tech city between the edge of the Appalachian Mountains in Northern Alabama and the Tennessee River. The area has one of the largest research parks in the US and the technical community that has access to undergraduate and graduate curricula of several excellent engineering universities. It is home to the US Space and Rocket Center, championship golf courses, museums, professional theater, symphony, sport franchise and three malls.
Major Duties
- Responsible for the management, technical direction, and control of several of the following environmental programs applying to Army Materiel Command (AMC), Major Subordinate Commands (MSC), installations, facilities and missions world-wide.
- Provide expert advice on regulatory guidance and policy to HQ AMC staff, MSCs, installations, and activities world-wide as well as other Army or DoD organizations.
- Serves as a staff advisor exercising program oversight for several environmental programs and activities in assigned areas throughout AMC.
- Participates in conferences, studies, working groups, briefings, and committees with DoD, Army Staff and Commands, Federal agencies and Departments and environmental interest groups.
- Develops and revises short-range, mid-range and long-range plans for the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA); Hazardous Materials Management Program (HMMP); and environmental compliance and associated assessments.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes responsibility for the management; technical direction, and control of several of the following environmental programs applying the AMC major subordinate commands (MSC), installations, facilities, and AMC activities and missions world-wide; National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation; land use planning; public outreach; environmental compliance and associated inspections/assessments; conservation of natural and cultural resources; installation restoration; pollution prevention; control and abatement of air and water pollution; Hazardous Materials Management Program (HMMP) and /or toxic substances and Toxic Release Inventory (TRI). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Pay Range
$111,433.00 - $144,860.00
