Major Duties
As an Environmental Protection Specialist, your duties will include:
- Providing environmental compliance decision-making, guidance, support, and oversight of enforcement and compliance activities; and administrative policy advice to ensure appropriate resolution of disputes on environmental compliance in Europe and Eurasia (E&E) programs;
- Developing policies, strategies, and plans for environmental protection programs/projects for Bureau-wide application;
- Managing projects, programs, and initiatives relevant to environmental and climate issues.
- Assessing performance of E&E offices in implementing USAID enforcement/compliance policies and guidance through audits and review of program activities;
- Providing expert advice and state-of-the-art professional assistance and support to the E&E Bureau, and to E&E Missions on incorporating research into programs and strategies;
- Preparing, leading, and participatinge in program and project evaluations and design efforts relevant to environmental and climate issues; and
- Serving as the technical liaison with other U.S. Government agencies, donor organizations, multilateral banks, U.S. universities, and professional organizations.
Qualifications
GS-15:You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to theGS-14level in the Federal service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Examples of qualifying specialized experience at the next lower level for this position includes: (a) devising new methods and techniques to produce effective results or implement advances in such areas as biodiversity conservation in developing countries, resource allocation, risk assessment, or quality assurance; (b) establishing criteria for administering or evaluating environmental programs; or (c) developing policy guidance and procedural material for use by operating personnel; and (d) plan and carry out major environmental projects and/or programs.
SELECTIVE FACTOR:This position requires a selective factor that is in addition to the qualification requirements noted above. Your resume must demonstrate experiencepreparing and delivering proposals, plans, climate action plans and/or other environmental or sustainability plans.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Pay Range
$142,701.00 - $170,800.00
