Job Summary
Serve as the primary Natural Resources Program Manager in the Fort Meade Environmental Division, Directorate of Public Works and manages several environmental programs such as: Forestry, Wetlands, Threatened and Endangered Species, Fish and Wildlife, Agronomy, and Invasive Species. Works closely with the following programs: Entomology Section, Storm Water, Cultural Resources, Pollution Prevention, and Military Construction.
Major Duties
- Develop and implement environmental programs as part of the Installation's overall environmental program in accordance with applicable environmental laws, regulations, and executive orders, such as the Sikes Act, Army Regulation 200-1.
- Maintain current knowledge of all legislation and regulations promulgated in assigned program areas and monitors assigned environmental programs to ensure Installation-wide compliance and reporting.
- Review and evaluate a wide range of policies, plans, and projects for environmental conservation and protection issues.
- Provide policy guidance, engineering controls, and procedures regarding conservation, compliance, mitigation, and prevention efforts for all activities which impact assigned programs.
- Provide updated information regarding changes in policy and local, state and Federal regulations to such activities.
- Serve as a technical expert for assigned programs and performs surveys, data collection, and inspections. Plan, develop and coordinate projects when observations or investigations reveal the need for environmental related corrective action.

Degree: A bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the specialized experience requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing a full range of Conservation work which includes 1) applying professional knowledge of biological and chemical science concepts, principles and practices; 2) knowledge of local, state and federal regulations, legislation, and policies to manage and implement Forestry, Urban Forestry, Endangered Species, Fish and Wildlife, Wetland, and Invasive Species programs; 3) providing advisory, planning and reviewing services concerning established, changed or new environmental policy; and 4) criteria to develop and implement short and long range plans for the protection, maintenance, and enhancement of natural resources. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS11.
Pay Range
$83,398.00 - $108,422.00
