Job Summary

Major Duties
- Advises engineers in various disciplines on problems relating to surface and subsurface conditions encountered.
- Conducts or directs reconnaissance of area under study to determine best method of conducting geologic investigation.
- Determines if current investigation is adequate or if it requires additional evaluation.
- Gathers first-hand technical data and observes actual excavation and foundation construction.
- Develops Scopes of Work and Independent Government Estimates for geotechnical investigations for IDIQ and service contracts.

Basic Requirement for Geologist: Degree: geology, plus 20 additional semester hours in any combination of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological science, structural, chemical, civil, mining or petroleum engineering, computer science, planetary geology, comparative planetology, geophysics, meteorology, hydrology, oceanography, physical geography, marine geology, and cartography. or Combination of education and experience -- course work as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting the basic education requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Your resume must describe at least one year of experience at the GS-11 (or equivalent) level which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as, but not limited to: Evaluating technical designs of geologic investigations for civil works construction projects and foundation conditions, for flood control, hydrologic, coastal, navigation and ecosystem restoration projects. Conducting site investigations, geologic mapping, subsurface and geophysical exploration; provide technical guidance to other Geologists and Engineers in the analysis and preparation of project reports. Utilizing computer programs, which requires sophisticated assumptions and geological analyses. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Pay Range
$76,721.00 - $99,741.00
