Job Summary

The Alaska District is seeking to fill a Planner position in our Civil Works branch. The ideal candidate will be skilled in the planning of Corps Civil Works feasibility studies with a specific emphasis on water resources projects including navigation, coastal storm damage reduction and flood risk management. This position is being filled under the Expedited Hiring Authority (EHA) for Defense Acquisition Workforce Positions in accordance with 10 USC § 1705(g).

Major Duties

  • This is a developmental position; duties listed below will be performed in a developmental capacity at the GS-07 and GS-09 grade level. At the full performance, GS-11, the incumbent will:
  • Coordinate with water resources study participants to organize the status of study tasks and activities.
  • Review project documents for feasibility study phases of water resources projects to ensure consistency with policy, guidance and regulations.
  • Assist in engineering and scientific data collection including topographic, bathymetric, biological surveys and similar activities.
  • Complete feasibility study reports to include recommendations as to whether a more detailed feasibility study for water resources projects should be conducted.

This position has a basic entry requirement. The entry requirement requires completion of education or a combination of education and experience sufficient to be comparable to that normally acquired through the completion of a four year course of study with a major in the professional or scientific field.
