Job Summary

As Chief, Operations Division, manages operation and maintenance (O&M) activities for the District, a civil works engineering organization responsible for water resource management over. This is an Interdisciplinary position that may be filled as a Supervisory - Biologist (0401), Civil Engineer (0810), Mechanical Engineer (0830), Electrical Engineer (0850), Archaeologist (0193), Architect (0808), Environmental Engineer (0819) or Physical Scientist (1301).

Major Duties

  • Manages operation and maintenance (OM) activities for the District, a civil works engineering organization responsible for water resource management.
  • Provides senior leader oversight, direction and review of the OM portion of the District budget request for navigation and flood risk management projects.
  • Reviews and comments on operational features of plans and specifications for new construction, rehabilitation, and major repair of navigation facilities.
  • Manages flood control operations at multiple dams, reservoirs, and local protection projects throughout the District.

  • Directs the repair and maintenance of District navigation and flood risk management facilities.

Specialized Experience: Experience in performing strategic planning for an organization, including short and long-range restructuring initiatives; issuing policy and procedural guidance regarding management of projects and programs; managing a large variety of highly complex, technical projects, programs and activities; promoting safety of staff, contractors and the public; management of operating budget; reviewing the work of subordinates for overall conformance with policy and mission objectives and established standards. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-14). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Pay Range

$140,634.00 - $170,800.00
