Job Summary
You will serve as a INTERDISCIPLINARY in the MINE WARFARE DEPARTMENT, MARITIME HOMELAND DEFENSE SUPPORT DIVISION of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS.
Major Duties
- You will lead in the development and maintenance of Mine Warfare (MIW) environmental databases pertaining to ports and harbors in support of homeland defense.
- You will coordinate, plan and executes complex studies relating to physical environments of ports and harbors that directly affect MIW operations.
- You will plan, implement, and perform special analysis and product generation from these data for the fleet, specifically the Mine Warfare community.
- You will participate in MIW exercises to provide technical assistance, database support, data processing support, and to provide training.

A. Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.
OR
B. Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Geophysics Series, 1313
A. Degree: that included at least 30 semester hours in mathematics (including calculus) and the physical sciences (geophysics, physics, engineering, geology, astronomy, meteorology, electronics, etc.).
OR
B. Combination of education and experience -- courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Oceanography Series, 1360
A. Degree: major study of at least 24 semester hours in oceanography or a related discipline such as physics, meteorology, geophysics, mathematics, chemistry, engineering, geology, or biology, plus 20 additional semester hours in any combination of oceanography, physics, geophysics, chemistry, mathematics, meteorology, computer science, and engineering sciences.
OR
B. Combination of education and experience -- course work as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Computer Science Series, 1550
Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions. In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience in the development and maintenance of environmental databases; Experience utilizing Geographic Information System (GIS) technology to perform geophysical data processing; Experience analyzing data with collateral geophysical data to develop database layers for decimination to fleet customers; Experience investigating or extracting environmental data from literature and external sources for data analysis to enhance existing data base development; Experience performing quality control on environmental data to ensure acceptable standards are met prior to populating databases. $76,721.00 - $99,741.00
