Job Summary

Will serve as a subject matter expert, with the Army Corps of Engineers, Operations and Readiness Division, Technical Support Branch, Recreation and Natural Resources TM, located in Huntington WV, in specific assigned areas and on interdisciplinary section teams representing specific subject matter knowledge areas on projects or studies of substantial scope.

Major Duties

  • Provides technical expertise in terms f review and recommendations for land use classification, environment, and public safety and facility design.
  • Monitors the management of Corps forest resources to support national and regional goals and to provide ecosystems conducive to wildlife objectives.
  • Develops plans and goals for endangered species protection/promotion on project lands.
  • Integrates resource management actions with water quality protection procedures.
  • Maintains liaison with professional counterparts in State and Federal agencies to exchange ideas and information.
  • Develops District policy, guides and procedures, including use of contracts, for use by field managers for protection of projects against wildfires and the training an physical requirements to do this inherently hazardous work.
  • Conduct animal damage control.
  • Participates in planning, organizing, executing and reviewing surveys on park management problems of more than ordinary responsibilities, to prevent destruction of outstanding and irreplaceable historic, archeological and natural features.
  • Manages aerial photography program for lake and lock projects.
  • Develops listing of tree and shrub species for recommendation to project managers for use as replacements within recreation areas as part of the Vegetative Management Plan.
  • Coordinates policy and guidelines for Real Estate programs implemented at field projects.

A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes responsibility for the biological, physical, cultural, and related studies of the environment that are required to ensure water resource projects are in compliance with applicable environmental laws and regulations.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). B. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this grade level, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Pay Range

$76,721.00 - $99,741.00
