Job Summary

In this position, you will work under the general supervision of the Chief, Hydrologic Engineering and Power Branch, and under technical oversight of the Team Leader, Power Team. In this capacity, you will independently use judgment in developing hydropower operational plans for hydro projects within the Seattle, Walla Walla and Portland Districts of the Corps of Engineers Northwestern Division (NWD) and British Columbia, Canada.

Major Duties

  • You will develop plans in coordination with Bonneville Power Administration (BPA), Bureau of Reclamation (USBR), British Columbia Hydro (BCH), and Pacific Northwest public and private electric utilities.
  • You will conduct system regulations that are used for developing reservoir operating plans required for the operation of all projects that are a party to the Pacific Northwest Coordination Agreement.
  • You will monitor current system operations and provides status reports that show reservoir refill probability, proportional draft levels and system energy capabilities.
  • You will perform special modeling regulations to evaluate current operational plans for developing problems and/or adverse impacts.
  • You will develop and maintain reports and procedures to provide Reservoir Operations Specialists with the accurate and timely information they require for proper water management decisions.
  • You will use a computer and developed applications to perform data collection, maintenance and formatting of data used in the preparation of hydrometeorological data, project data, and other water management information.
  • You will assists engineers and hydrologists in hydrologic analyses and system-wide Columbia River operation studies.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience that provided knowledge of operational plans and computer applications that are used in water related power systems analysis such as multi-purpose hydro projects and/or water retention facilities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Pay Range

$81,875.00 - $106,442.00
