Job Summary
This position will be physically located in Wilmington, North Carolina (NC). Wilmington, NC is a coastal town with a population of over 150,000 located between the Cape Fear River and the Atlantic Ocean. Wilmington, NC housing availability is very good. We have a beautiful natural setting with mild winters, abundant beaches, water activities, golf courses and other amenities, which can be enjoyed by outdoor enthusiasts during all four seasons.
Major Duties
- Utilize technical knowledge and expertise in environmental compliance and resources to assess environmental impacts of permitted projects.
- Evaluate compliance with Federally mandated environmental Acts, laws, and regulations.
- Provide customer responses on matters of environmental compliance. Serve as the environmental review coordinator.
- Conduct environmental resource and impact analysis to determine impacts on aquatic and terrestrial environments and develop appropriate mitigation measures.
- Develop and review reports, plans, specifications, permit applications, time schedules statements of work, and cost estimates.

A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Basic Requirement: Physical Scientist A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to one of the majors, as shown in A above, that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) Working on environmental assessments and environmental impact statements related to water resources projects, OR 2) Reviewing reports on biological field studies, assessments, or prepared research, OR 3) Conducting on-site environmental investigations, OR 4) Monitoring construction, operation and maintenance activities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Pay Range
$76,721.00 - $99,741.00
