Major Duties
This is an interdisciplinary position and may be filled in either the GS-0810 or GS-1315 series depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
Civil Engineer (0810) salary range: GS-11: $89,685 - $105,831; GS-12: $101,040 - $120,390
Hydrologist (1315) salary range: GS-11: $67,574 - $87,852; GS-12: $80,993 - $105,295
The position may be filled at the GS-11 or GS-12 level. At the full performance GS-12 level, the incumbent serves as a senior specialist responsible for the investigation and development of models using programs such as RiverWare for use in planning studies directed at increasing and managing the water supplies of Northern Nevada.
-Serves as a modeling representative for the Area Office.
-Responsible for hydrologic analysis and forecasting in support of Area Office role as administrator of a large irrigation project (involving major reservoirs and canal systems).
-Makes model runs and recommends changes to Truckee-Carson River operations models.
-Works closely with other Reclamation modeling specialists as well as representatives from the Federal Water Master's office and the Truckee River Operating Agreement Coordinator's office to develop river operations models of the Truckee and Carson River systems.
-Conducts technical analysis regarding submitted water rights applications and potential impacts on Truckee and Carson River basins' water resources.
-Collects and analyzes data on water supplies, demands, reservoir operations and management, river hydraulics and, as required, for other studies and programs of the Area Office.
-Develops budget and workforce projections for assigned projects.
-Observes office safety policy and personally participates in and promotes the Office Safety Plan.
At the GS-11 levels, the duties of this position are developmental in nature, leading to the full performance level of GS-12. The incumbent may be non-competitively promoted to the next level of the position upon meeting all regulatory requirements; certification by the supervisor of successful performance; completion of all training requirements; and the availability of work at the next higher grade level. Note: Promotion is not automatic.

This experience must have been gained in direct support of water resources facilities such as reservoirs and dams and their appurtenant structures or other significant water resources studies designed toassess and manage water supply and tostabilize, protect, restore and enhance river or similar environments.
