Job Summary

Major Duties

  • You will design construction projects using computer software (e.g. Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD), geographic information systems (GIS).
  • You will prepare design drawings, sketches, or work directives for construction projects.
  • You will review engineering proposals for the design, construction, alteration, or repair of facilities.
  • You will review construction project designs for completion within the planned cost and approved timeframe.
  • You will assess structural condition of facilities to develop recommendations for architectural repairs and modifications.
  • You will develop lifecycle facilities plans to support long term investment strategies for facilities and infrastructure (e.g. buildings, utilities, roads, airfields, ranges, piers, dry docks).
  • You will perform space management analysis to determine the impact of facility changes on supported activities.
  • You will support the execution of facilities sustainment, restoration, and modernization (SRM) investments for facilities master planning and architectural design.
  • You will brief decision makers on issues with facility design, new construction, renovation, maintenance, and improvement projects for real property facilities.
  • You will chair meetings and conferences to discuss architectural and engineering technical matters with management officials, headquarters, contractors, or staff members.
  • You will discuss architectural and engineering project information with customers to assess their needs.
  • You will participate in meetings with contractors and project sponsors to assure adherence to schedules and designs.
  • You will compose technical correspondence to communicate engineering and architectural designs, plans, and objectives to management, technical experts, or staff.
  • You will prepare architect-engineer reports, briefs, and presentations to provide status on construction projects.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Preparing planning documents, conceptual designs, specifications, and cost estimates for shore facilities projects; 2) Communicating orally and in writing to conduct meetings and conferences, discussing technical matters, and preparing technical correspondence; 3) Planning and organizing assignments and resolving problems; and 4) Working with computer-aided design and drafting. Pay Range

$81,315.00 - $109,465.00
