THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a INTERDISCIPLINARY (TITLE 5), Position Description Number T59048 and is part of the FL 125th FW, National Guard. This is an interdisciplinary Architect/Engineer position (see duties below)
Major Duties
This is an interdisciplinary architect or engineer position. The nature of the work is common to the architecture or several engineering disciplines. The duties assigned to this position can be classified in either of the following architecture or engineering occupational series: General Engineering, GS-801 (this includes Architectural and Construction Engineering); Architecture, GS-808; Civil Engineering, GS-810; Environmental Engineering, GS-819; Mechanical Engineering, GS-830; Electrical Engineering, GS-850.
Develop engineered solutions to technical problems, which are incapable of being resolved by subordinates. Perform extensive mathematical and technical calculations in engineering to include civil, mechanical, electrical, or general engineering as well as architecture. Provide subordinate guidance and team leadership to Dual Status and Title 5 employees. Perform planning development necessary to accomplish architecture and engineering functions for programs essential to state Air National Guard daily operations, training, and readiness missions.
Qualifications
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Service "under the authority of Title 5, P.L. 114-328, Sections 932 and 1084 (FY17 NDAA)", and is open to US citizens interested in helping the Department of the Air Force meet our mission requirements in Interdisciplinary. Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard. GENERAL EXPERIENCE/ MINIMUM EDUCATION: Must have a degree in Engineering (to be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. OR A combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following: Professional registration or licensure -- Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT)[1], or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Absent other means of qualifying under this standard, those applicants who achieved such registration by means other than written test (e.g., State grandfather or eminence provisions) are eligible only for positions that are within or closely related to the specialty field of their registration. For example, an applicant who attains registration through a State Board's eminence provision as a manufacturing engineer typically would be rated eligible only for manufacturing engineering positions.

Completion of Written Test -- Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE)[2] examination or any other written test required for professional registration by an engineering licensure board in the various States, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico.
OR
Completion of specified academic courses -- Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A. The courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of an engineering program as described in paragraph A. OR
Completion of a related curriculum -- Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least 1 year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions. (The above examples of related curricula are not all inclusive.) SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-12 must have at least one year experience at the GS-11 level, in the normal line of progression through federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector in the areas of civil, mechanical, electrical, facility, environmental, fire protection, architectural, military contingency, plant facility and construction engineering disciplines and architecture. Experience that involved the preparing technical and engineering drawings; experience searching out and developing new or greatly modified methods and approaches to accomplish the Engineering function; experience in coordinating and negotiating with contractors and other personnel regarding engineering and administrative matters; experience supervising and leading others within the Engineering Occupational Series'; experience in managing the function of the work to be performed as well as leading, directing and assigning work of personnel?
OR A Ph. D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a related field OR A combination of specialized experience and education
Pay Range
$74,596.00 - $96,978.00
