Job Summary
This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the National Ground Intelligence Center, Science and Technology Directorate, Charlottesville, VA 22911.
Major Duties
- Serves as a full-performance professional scientist/engineer conducting research and analysis of foreign laser protection technologies.
- Serves as Senior member of a team covering battlefield vision and countervision technologies, including night vision detectors, image fusion, laser technology, metamaterial stealth, advanced camouflage technologies and EO countermeasure technology.
- Designs innovative projects to produce targeted intelligence products including forecasts and overall capabilities assessments.
- Develops overall analytical objectives, project scope, and emphasis through an assessment of customer requirements, Center and Army mission objectives, and significant new information or trends in the assigned subject area.
- Integrates results from selected analytical approaches to produce innovative, targeted intelligence products. Formulates the Center's intelligence position on complex technical issues.
- Briefs decision makers at Army level and at key customer activities, targeting presentation to audience interest and program involvement, negotiating acceptance of the Army's intelligence position.
- Regularly represents the Center or the Army on Intelligence Community working groups and committees, presenting significant analytical issues, developing an Army intelligence position for presentation to decision makers.

One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GG/GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which includes experience as an intelligence analyst producing finished, collaborative, integrated all-source scientific and technical (S&T) analysis, including forecasts and overall capabilities assessments applicable to customer requirements. Experience includes reviewing, evaluating and interpreting current and projected technical intelligence data which includes collaborating, coordinating and integrating S&T intelligence projects within and outside the community. Experience in battlefield vision and/or countervision technologies.
