Job Summary

The positions are inOffice of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention. If selected you may work in the Office of Pesticide Programs, Health Effects Division or in the Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxics, Risk Assessment Division. If selected, you must work at the location stated in this announcement.About OCSPP:OCSPP

Major Duties

You will:

-Lead the branch in the performance of risk assessments and characterizations;

-Serve as a senior scientific/technical/policy advisor for the Agency; advises senior management on hazard, risk assessment, characterization and/or exposure issues;

-Serves on inter-program and inter-agency work groups and represent the Program's positions on risk assessment, exposure and/or fate issues;

-Represent the agency on exposure, hazard and risk assessment methodology, and tools and model development and use.

You will spend less than 25% of your work time on contracts, grants/cooperative agreements, and/or inter-agency agreements.

Qualifications

You need a degree or combination of education and experience as described below to qualify for this position.

In addition to the educational requirements, we are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below:To qualify for the GS-14 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-13 level defined as leading a multidisciplinary scientific team, and overseeing the review and use of scientific data to assess risk.

Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: 1) Skill in evaluating laboratory and field studies; 2) Ability to lead a scientific risk assessment team; 3) Skill in providing advice and assistance to scientists and senior management officials; 4) Skill in evaluating factors that influence hazard and fate and transport of chemicals in the environment; 5) Skill in oral communication sufficient to communicate policies and scientific developments; 6) Ability to work on a team or task force; 7) Skill in written communication sufficient to prepare technical, legal, and policy-related documents; 8) Ability to manage contracts related matters.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Pay Range

$112,028.00 - $145,634.00
