Major Duties
This is a Recent Graduates position in the Pathways program. This program provides individuals who have completed a qualifying associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, professional, doctorate, vocational, or technical degree or certificate with an entry-level developmental experience with the potential to lead to a career in the Federal government after successfully completing the program. At the entry level of this position, you will:
- Determine appropriate cleanup actions, methods and tools for toxic and hazardous waste sites and recommend to senior (Remedial Project Manager) RPM or supervisor the most cost-effective solutions.
- Oversee and monitor contractual work efforts in routine cases for cleanup duties to assure that federal funds are properly expended and that contractors are utilized effectively and efficiently.
- Monitor cleanup efforts for well-established site situations that involve toxic and hazardous waste cleanup.
- Participate in enforcement activities.
- Perform community relations activities.

You will spend less than 25% of your work time on contracts, grants/cooperative agreements, and/or interagency agreements.
Qualifications
In addition to the eligibility requirements for the Recent Graduates program, this position has specific educational requirements in order to qualify as described below:A bachelor’s degree from an accredited or pre-accredited college or university in [insert the education majors referenced in the applicable OPM Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR) and briefly describe the combination of education and experience if applicable].In addition to the educational requirements, we are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below:To qualify for the GS-09 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-07 level defined asparticipating in cleanup efforts at sites involving toxic and/or hazardous waste - OR master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in the academic discipline as described below - OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.To qualify for the GS-11 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-09 level defined as monitoring cleanup efforts at sites that involve toxic and hazardous wasteOR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in the academic discipline as described below - OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of federal, state and local environmental regulations.
Skill in evaluating hazardous waste site cleanup techniques and technologies.
Knowledge of contract management procedures.
Knowledge of basic techniques for hazardous waste site investigations.
Skill in written communication.
Ability to conduct or assist in site characterization studies.
Ability to establish goals and assess progress toward their achievement.
Skill in oral communication. Pay Range
$52,905.00 - $91,155.00
