Job Summary

Major Duties

At the entry level of this position, you will:

  • Participate in response to the release of oil and/or other hazardous materials as directed by senior On-Scene Coordinator (OSC) or supervisor.
  • Assist the senior OSC to exercise warranted Contracting Officer functions in accordance with the Delegation of Procurement Authority (DPA) from the EPA Office of Acquisition Management.
  • Assist the senior OSC to conduct official investigations and/or inspections pursuant to all federal laws administered by the U.S. EPA, for both fund-led and enforcement-led removal responses.
  • Provide assistance with planning, prevention, and preparedness activities related to health and environmental hazards resulting from releases of biological, chemical and/or radiological agents.
  • Participate in the monitoring removal responses that involve hazardous waste as directed by the senior OSC or supervisor, and perform public relations activities.

Qualifications

You need a degree or combination of education and experience as described below to qualify for this position.In addition to the educational requirements, we are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below:To qualify for the GS-09 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-07 level defined asassisting in responding to accidental or deliberate hazardous chemical or biological spills; assist in assessing an environmental incident to determine the appropriate response. - OR master's or equivalent graduate degree; or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in the academic discipline as described below.Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: Skill in collecting and reviewing scientific and/or engineering data

Ability to assist with warranted Contracting Officer functions

Knowledge of hazardous waste regulations

Ability to perform developmental assignments related to environmental hazards resulting from releases of biological, chemical and radiological agents

Ability to participate in monitoring removal responses that involve hazardous waste

Pay Range

$58,672.00 - $76,274.00
