THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a METEOROLOGICAL TECHNICIAN, Position Description Number 02702 and is part of the PA 193rd Special Operations Wing, National Guard. 1 or more Position(s) may be hired against this Announcement. Duty location is Fort Indiantown Gap, PA.

Major Duties

As a Meteorological Technician, GS-1341-11, you will plan, direct, and review the work of subordinate employees. Analyze and evaluate meteorological data and prepares forecast products. Serve as the project leader, the committee chair, or as project/committee member on studies involving issues of major interest to the program area. Consult with manages and supervisors to define, develop, execute, and maintain aspects of required training for weather and non-weather Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC) personnel assigned to an operational weather squadron. Manage and submit inputs to the Resource Center/Cost Center Manager. Structure assignments and review work of subordinates based on priorities and deadlines, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees. Prepare and deliver oral presentations such as briefings consultations, and strategy sessions with other staff service functions and activities to secure cooperation, resolve controversial matters, and convey information relative to proposed changes in assignments. Perform other duties as assigned.

Manpower # 0070119 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Application must show experience that demonstrates the applicants' ability to perform the work of the position. Experience that provided a familiarity with the subject matter or processes of the broad subject area of the occupation. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Application must indicate at least 36 months experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience can be measuring meteorological phenomena with scientific equipment and instrumentation, observing and recording atmospheric characteristics, (i.e., temperature, air movement, visibility, pressure, air density, cloud types), decoding, plotting, and systematically recording data related to the physical characteristics of the atmosphere, i.e., charts, diagrams, cross sections, and collecting, analyzing, interpreting, adjusting, and verifying atmospheric and other meteorological data to confirm and improve accuracy and efficacy. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND COMPETENCIES: Applicants who meet the eligibility requirements will be further evaluated by the nominating supervisor based on the following competencies considered essential to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. - Knowledge of meteorology including meteorological methods, techniques, and practices, including weather observing, forecasting, communications, meteorological equipment and support procedures. - Ability to manage personnel, projects, and resources with minimal supervision and only minor general guidance. - Ability to measure meteorological phenomena with scientific equipment and instrumentation, and collect, analyze, interpret, adjust, and verify atmospheric or other meteorological data to confirm and improve its accuracy and effectiveness. - Skill in using standard computer software and various applications. - Ability to make timely decisions and select a course of action under high stress conditions associated with severe weather and emergency situations. QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience, training, and education must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position to be filled. SPECIAL NOTE: Per the Labor Relations Management Agreement if there are more than 15 qualified applicants for each position, by category, a KSA board will be convened in accordance with Section 17.8 of the LMRA. PCS STATEMENT: PERMANENT CHANGE OF STATION COSTS WILL NOT BE PAID FOR THIS POSITION. *NOTE: The incumbent of this position must have, at a minimum, a completed Tier 3 Security Clearance prior to position assignment.

Pay Range

$64,699.00 - $84,107.00
