Job Summary

You will serve as a Meteorologist in the Models Division of FLT NUMER OCEANGPHY METEO CTR.

Major Duties

  • You will serve as FNMOC subject matter expert for one or more major product areas such as numerical weather prediction, atmospheric data assimilation, aerosol modelling, ensemble forecasting, air-sea interaction, aviation, and satellite.
  • You will provide authoritative advice to other agency scientists and high-level officials, conducting investigations that may require the development of new techniques.
  • You will be responsible for initiating, planning, coordinating, and executing the transition of new and emerging; scientific technologies and techniques from the research community to operations.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience in planning, designing and the implementation of the operational configuration of significant new data assimilation and numerical modelling capabilities that facilitate the automated validation and verification of atmospheric analysis and forecast products through qualitative and quantitative comparison to all relevant observations. Experience in FNMOC for the exchange of techniques, software and data with planners and scientists from other government. Experience in advancing theoretical meteorology, including the dynamics of the atmosphere mesoscale meteorology and the application of computer methods of numerical weather analysis and prediction. Pay Range

$93,587.00 - $121,668.00
