Job Summary

You will serve as a Meteorologist in the Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center (FNMOC) of FLT NUMER OCEANGPHY METEO CTR.

Major Duties

  • You will participate in inter-agency working groups or committees to provide expert technical perspective and create long-range inter-agency plans.
  • You will serve as a senior staff specialist for one or more major product areas such as satellite meteorology, marine weather, air-sea interaction, aviation, etc.
  • You will present scientific results in a general public forum or a peer-reviewed publication.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience planning, designing, and implementing the operational configuration of significant new data assimilation and numerical modeling capabilities and automated systems that facilitate the validation and verification of METOC numerical analysis and forecast products through qualitative comparison to all relevant observations. Experience in planning, designing and implementing significant new automated systems to acquire, decode, and assess quality of all types of METOC data and algorithms needed to maximize the value of satellite data and imagery for environmental models and tactical products. Pay Range

$111,286.00 - $144,676.00
