Job Summary
You will serve as a NATURAL RESOURCE SPECIALIST/ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER/PHYSICAL SCIENTIST in the Naval Facilities Engineering Command Washington ofNAVAL FAC ENGINEERING CMD WASH. This is an Interdisciplinary position which may be filled by the following series: NATURAL RESOURCE SPECIALIST (0401), ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER (0819), PHYSICAL SCIENTIST (1301).
Major Duties
- You will review planning documents (e.g., Master Plans, Capital Improvement Plans, Special Studies) to identify environmental problems
- You will monitor natural resources or environmental contracts or delivery orders to ensure requirements are met.
- You will identify long-term solutions for environmental problems.
- You will confirm compliance with environmental laws and regulations to reduce impact on installation operations.
- You will confirm all construction permits (e.g. National Environmental Protection Agency documentations and State Historic Preservation Office clearances) are in place prior to the start of construction.
Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Education Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Assisting in the management and support of environmental programs associated with clean water (industrial or sanitary wastewater), hazardous waste or petroleum storage in compliance with natural resources; 2) Assisting in the environmental regulation review of projects and proposed actions and plans for compliance with existing and proposed environmental permits; 3) Assisting in preparing guidelines, point papers, scopes of work, and cost estimates; 4) Assisting in the development to implement Environmental Management Systems and compliance audits; and 6) Experience with wetlands, natural management, specie identification, surveys and management. OR
Successful completion of a 5 year program of study of at least 160 semester hours leading to a bachelor's degree in engineering and have one year of appropriate professional experience that required and was characterized by 1) professional knowledge of engineering, 2) professional ability to apply such knowledge to engineering problems, and 3) positive and continuing development of professional knowledge and ability. Successful completion of a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement and one year of professional engineering experience that required and was characterized by 1) professional knowledge of engineering, 2) professional ability to apply such knowledge to engineering problems, and 3) positive and continuing development of professional knowledge and ability. Pay Range
$48,670.00 - $77,396.00
