Major Duties
- Serve as the Invasive Species and Pest Management Program, at Fort Carson and Pinon Canyon Maneuver Site (PCMS), Colorado.
- Incumbent ensures installation-wide compliance with federal, Army, state, and local pesticide storage, use, disposal, and reporting requirements.
- Perform duties related to ecosystem management and area monitoring following wildland and controlled burn fires.
- Design and implement the Invasive Species Management Program, to include updating the Invasive Species Management Plan.
- Responsible for the prevention, inventory, control, monitoring, and management of invasive species on Fort Carson and PCMS.
- Develop and administer contracts for control of invasive species.
- Coordinates with and assists NEPA personnel in reviewing proposed projects and in preparing environmental documents for assigned projects or for Installation activities.
- Assists the Fort Carson Fire Department and the Fort Carson Wildland Fire Team with the suppression of Wildland fires.

Basic Requirement for Natural Resources Management Specialist:
Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR
Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized experience which includes providing support to management officials by coordinating health care delivery systems and operations; experience adhering to healthcare data standardization rules and regulations; experience coordinating access to care services between treatment facilities and beneficiaries. This experience is defined at the GS-09 grade level in Federal Service OR
Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.
Pay Range
$65,019.00 - $84,524.00
