Job Summary

Serve as Natural Resource Program Manager for a large multipurpose water resource development project, which has extensive recreational facilities, substantial and recurring natural resources management activities, and heavy annual recreation attendance. This position is located in Donelson, Tennessee.

Major Duties

  • Implement natural resource management and protection programs such as shoreline management, outgrant management, enforcement and resource protection in compliance with environmental laws and regulations.
  • Interpret and implement natural resource management policies and directives, developing guidance as necessary.
  • Conduct public meetings to periodically update the public regarding status of programs and to solicit public input concerning other aspects of the overall natural resources program.
  • Coordinate and manage operation and maintenance of recreation facilities, including campgrounds, picnic areas, boat launching ramps, marinas, historical sites, overlooks, and visitor/information centers.
  • Establish and enforce a safety program for the lake.
  • Prepare budget for contract costs, personnel, equipment, materials and supplies required to carry out a safe, efficient and effective operations and maintenance program.
  • Provide for the security and protection of all government property and real estate.
  • Report to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and to the Emergency Management Personnel in the District office so appropriate relief can be coordinated among various agencies to quickly restore the affected area to normal.

Basic Education Requirement for Natural Resources Program Manager: Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR A combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes evaluating natural resources, managing natural resource programs, preparing budgets, briefing groups concerning natural resource programs, issuing permits for recreational activities, and developing status reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-11. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Pay Range

$76,721.00 - $99,741.00
