Job Summary
This position is with the Directorate of Public Works, Environmental Division, Natural Resoruces Management Branch located in Fort Carson, Colorado.
Major Duties
- Monitors and manages team operations such as tracking completion of regulatory requirements (permits, reports, etc.) and ensures task completion external to normal program operations (i.e. tasks from the Director, GC, other teams).
- Coordinates with the Fort Carson Fire Department (FCFD) program manager and oversees a burn planning team program to assess proposed burn plans, identify mitigation strategies and monitoring fires.
- Participates in forestry and urban forestry; equipment management; cultural resources management/compliance; resource sustainment initiatives; and education/awareness programs.
- Reviews plans, specifications, and cost estimates for a variety of projects for procurement by contract in support of natural resource management programs.
- Organizes and participates in meetings with community groups, federal, state, and local regulatory agencies and other groups concerned with natural and cultural resource sustainment related to the assigned programs.
- Coordinates with the supervisor and provides oversight of the Integrated Natural Resources Management Plan (INRMP)
- Serves as point of contact for assigned programs when environmental regulatory personnel visit and inspect the installation.
- Consults and provides guidance to appropriate installation, local or state organizations in developing new or radically different procedures to correct violations or meet with new program requirements.

Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR
B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as work including but not limited to: experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes advising on matters concerning natural resources conservation (e.g. wild land fire, forestry, weed management, watershed management, erosion control, ecosystem protection, wetlands management and land reclamation); coordinating with local, state and federal agencies regarding natural resources management and conservation issues; ensuring projects are in compliance with applicable laws and regulations; and briefing higher level management on natural resources program status and initiatives. Pay Range
$76,721.00 - $99,741.00
